With every year rain water accumulation, the village dwellers had completed the construction work of anicut with great expectations. But, because it got damaged, not a single drop of water got accumulated in the anicut. In these arduous conditions, Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan fulfilled the wishes of villagers, filling the anicut with rain water. The story revolves around Moran river situated at paadali gujreshwar gram panchayat of Dungarpur district. The anicut was manufactured before 20 years with the purpose of harvesting rain water to meet the needs of potable water. But because of damage, the whole construction was going in vain. In spite of a good rain, villagers were unable to collect the rain water.
every year, the rains would bring droves of water and would pass through the broken Anicut. Infact, for two times, gram panchayat contributed in rapairs of this Anicut, but they could not savour any fruitful results. During this time only, the village was selected under Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan and all the villagers decided to get the Anicut improved for use. With the help of Gram Panchayat, they requested to improve the condition of this Anicut along with the desilting work. In Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan, under Mahatama Gandhi Narega Yojna, a sum of Rs. 14 lakh 94 thousand was allotted for strengthening and desilting of Anicut.
Understanding the importance of the task, the villagers invested their best energy in it, completing the task in mere 3 months. For this construction work, a sum of Rs. 8.92 lakh was spent on labours and a sum of Rs. 6.02 lakh was spent on ingredients. During the whole construction, work equals to 2,184 days was generated. That means 2,184 man days were generated. Just after finishing the work, villagers witnessed the heavy rain and the Anicut got full with pure rainwater. As per villagers opinions, the water will help in irrigation facilities and also the dwellers will be able to use this water during the summers.
