Government assented to door-to-door waste collection in Civil Lines and Mansarovar

The state government on Thursday has given final approval to commence long-overdue door-to-door garbage collection programme in Civil Lines and Mansarovar zones.

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation ( JMC) had recently solicited tenders for the door-to-door garbage collection after dividing the city into three divisions. In the first division, the agency has included Hawa Mahal (West), Amber and Vidhyadhar Nagar areas; the second division has Hawa Mahal (East), Moti Doongri and Sanganer areas. Similarly, the third division covers Civil Lines and Mansarovar.

The state government has given nod to start door-to-door garbage collection scheme in third division (Civil Lines and Mansarovar ) , while approvals for first and second divisions are still stuck in the pipeline.

“The selected bid will be forwarded to the state government for the final approval. After receiving the permission, we will issue the work orders to the company. Three months time will be provided to the firm to initiate work,” said a senior JMC official.

The (JMC) had recently finalized a firm from Pune for the door-to-door garbage collection scheme in the city. The corporation this month opened the financial bids of Global Waste Management, based out of Mumbai and BVG India, Pune, the participating firms, and awarded the contract to the latter which had tendered the lowest quote.

The bidders will have to collect all the garbage from all homes and commute it to the depot.

“For the 1st and 3rd divisions, the Pune-based firm quoted a rate of Rs 1,690, while the Mumbai firm quoted Rs 2,502 and Rs 2,349, respectively. Similarly, for the 3rd division, the Pune firm quoted Rs 1,650, while the Mumbai firm quoted Rs 2,349,” a JMC official said.
