After a long wait, the three-member settlement committee that was constituted to resolve the long awaited ring road dispute has finally submitted its report to the state government this Thursday.

The long pending project has been brought back on track. The final hurdle to hand over the project to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been finally cleared. This has raised hopes within the government.

Urban Development and Housing (UDH) minister Srichand Kriplani in a statement stated that although they have not gone through the report,  to his knowledge it is a balanced report. The companies and Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) are ready to accept the recommendations of the report. The report will be listed in empowered committee next week.

According to the sources in the department, the committee has already approved the claims of Rs 200 crore as against Rs 566 crore submitted by the company.  Besides this, the approval of Rs 10 crore was also given to JDA claims against Rs 180 crore.  A foreclosure agreement will also be signed after both the parties give their approval on the recommendations of the report.

Further, it was also informed that the state government will also sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with National highway authority of India (NHAI). But it will be done only after receiving the consent from both the parties.

It is also decided that NHAI will pay the liability of Rs 221 crore to banks.  This amount was taken by Sanjose Supreme as a loan to construct the 47-km Ring Road. However, the decision of NHAI paying the liability of Rs 221 crore to banks will be taken after the committee submits the reports as stated by the officials.

According to the conditions of the agreement between NHAI and JDA, JDA will also be provided with Rs 350 crore to JDA in 10 years for the commercial operation, by the highway authority of India.

As per the announcement made the project would be completed in 15 months. Earlier the firm had to complete the work in 24 months. However, due to internal strife in the company, the project stands delayed.

Now, the new deadline for the project is August 2018 as per the schedule set by the state government.
