Children are our first priority not because they are the most vulnerable but because the foundation for lifelong learning and human development are laid in the most crucial years of early childhood. The well being of children has been a priority and also an integral part of the country’s development planning.
India has the largest child population in the world. Children constitute principal assets of our country. Children’s development is as important as the development of material resources and the best way to develop national human resources is to take care of the children.
Taking an initiative towards this direction Manan Chaturvedi, President of the State Child Protection Commission, at his Dholpur tour reviewed the situation of the district in connection with the implementation of the rights and laws of the children. A meeting was conducted with the District Magistrate Suchi Tyagi, additional district collector and other departmental officials this week.
As per the decision that was taken by the officials a single window system will be set up at the collectorate which would provide information regarding child welfare schemes. This window would also act as a center for registration of atrocities against children. In the case of registration of any atrocities against children these filed cases will be monitored and followed at the single window center.
This initiative taken by the district officials at Dholpur will ensure that the district is free of child labor and child marriage. This step will also result in zero drops out from school.
Besides these steps, five villages in the district would be developed as model villages for children. These model villages will be equipped with the proper system of education, Anganwadi, and health of the children living in the slums.
The team has also decided to activate the BAL Manch and BAL Sansad at all schools. Apart from this regular meetings will be conducted every Saturday to provide children the platform to express themselves of POCSO Act (protection of children from sexual offenses), child labor, child marriage etc.
Thus it is a great initiative and step taken by the Dholpur district officials to make this district the first child-friendly district in India.
