An exit poll predicted that the saffron party was going to win with a thumping mandate. The prediction actually got manifested into reality, thereby giving a green flag to the saffron party. The big win in MCD elections has set the tune for the 2019 General assembly elections. BJP win in the MCD elections will be succeeded by an ensuing BJP thumping mandate in the 2019 elections.

The MCD elections counting were slated for April 26, while they were held on 23 April. What came in as good news was the fact that the voter turnout inched higher than that in 2012. 2017 MCD elections witnessed a voter turnout of 53.58%.

AAP’s MLA from Chandni Chowk, Alka Lamba, furnished his resignation letter owing to the poor performance of the party in her area.

BJP’s Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari spruced up and became the star performer of the MCD battle. The veteran Bhojpuri actor-turned-politician said “negative politics” cost the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The defeated AAP leader Kejriwal blamed the EVM’s for his failure which was palpable, amid his derogatory and non-sensical remarks

Former Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde had a meaningful piece of advice for ally Arvind Kejriwal. This is what Hegde said: “Talking about EVMs after the defeat is not good. Not the right thing to do.”

BJP – 184 wards
AAP – 46 wards
Congress – 30 wards
Others – 10 wards
