Mother’s milk is heaven for a Neonate. With a prudent objective of upscaling mother’s milk bank initiated by the Rajasthan health department, children who are deprived of mother’s milk will be provided with milk.

Milk started to be provided at the Tonk’s district hospital, which became the ninth mother’s milk bank in state on Thursday.
The first milk bank was started at the RNT Hospital in Udaipur. This was in collaboration with Maa Bhagwati Vikas Sansthan, Udaipur.
There are currently 10 milk banks running in the state. The neonates are being fed well. These 10 banks came as a result of the announcement of Rajasthan Budget 2017-18.
Rajasthan Chief Minister is highly sensitive to children’s lives and mother’s health. Perhaps, that’s why she curated this wonderful concept called Mother banks.
A slew of other districts have already started this initiative. In Baran, this facility commenced on Tuesday, while Bundi’s milk bank started in Bundi on Wednesday.
Yog Guru Devendra Agarwal, a source closely involved in this initiative said, “In case a mother is not able to feed her baby due to clinical reasons, these banks provide milk to such neonates. It is much better than bovine’s milk.”
“It is proven that neonates should be breastfed exclusively. But, if mother is not able to do it due to medical reasons, these milk banks will help the neonates to get the nutritional milk donated by other infants mother,” Agarwal informed.
Impressively, as many as 2,379 women have donated milk in 10 mother’s milk banks which is now being used to feed little ones. Not only this, it is notable that the 2,379 women donated ample quantity of milk. Close to 3,898 litres has been collected for the infants.
The Rajasthan government is now spreading word about this cause. Women are being incentivized to donated milk for the benefit of those children deprived of mother’s milk which is essential for baby’s proper growth and nutrition. What an idea, really!
