The newly elected MLA minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has had a year full of limelight and controversies. The politician first got eyebrows raised after he collaborated with Congress, after furnishing his resignation to the now-ruling BJP.
Not long ago, the minister expressed that he will continue to work on the popular show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’. He also spelled out that people should not have any qualms about how many hours I am devoting to office.
The Cricketer-turned-politician questioned people why they are bothered by how he is managing his time. He said, “If I work four days a month, 7 pm to 6 am why are people getting stomach ache?” he asked.
The politician also added that despite being a regular participant in the show, his cabinet responsibilities will never be compromised.
Sidhu also took a major jibe at the former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who conducted bus services to earn profit. Sidhu added, “Should I run bus service like Sukbir or indulge in any corruption?”
Sidhu also emboldened his claim by saying that participation as a celebrity-judge on the popular TV show will make no difference as it was not office-of-profit.
“An office-of-profit is when the government is paying you money, employing you or giving you remuneration. A government office is an office-of-profit. This is not,” Sidhu explained.
Sidhu added to his explanation that anything I be doing is my own discretion. He said, “Sometimes, I work all seven days from early morning till 6 pm. So, what I do after 6 pm is nobody’s business.”
Sidhu has been made the Minister of Tourism and Culture and local bodies in the new Congress Government-led by Captain Amarinder Singh.
The Kapil Sharma Show is already heated up after host, Kapil Sharma locked horns with his team members, Sunil Grover and Ali Asgar, who have perhaps boycotted the show. However, the final word from the comedy series cast is still awaited.
