Recently, the Rajasthan BJP industry minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat said that the government has formulated an integrated plan to meet Jaipur’s drinking water needs till 2052. “The new plan has considered the population growth, expansion, requirement of Jaipur till 2052 and undertaken an integrated augmentation programme to meet the city’s drinking water needs till 2052,” Shekhawat said at a press conference here. Jaipur water needs
“To solve the water deficit problem we are diverting water from the Brahmani river to Banas river to feed Bisalpur. This will make available an additional 411 million cubic metre water and the height of Bisalpur dam will be raised by one metre to store the additional water,” he added. Jaipur water needs
In order to meet the requirements of water, the government has commenced the augmentation of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project. In this project, surplus water from the basins will be diverted to the deficit basins. Not only that, a surplus of over 652 mcm water will be available for Bisalpur apart from the water from the Brahmani river.
Additionally, will this project meet the drinking water requirements of the city and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. Considering all these sources of water revenues, the water requirements of the city will be fulfilled till 2052. Jaipur water needs
Drawing a contrast in the stats, while the Congress government was providing only 35 crore litre water in 2013, BJP government is providing 49.3 crore litre water from Bisalpur added to the 7 crore litre from tubewells to Jaipur per day. Jaipur water needs
Shedding light on the unbelievable benefits of Mukhya Mantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan (MJSA), he said, “Of the 264 blocks, 193 were over-exploited, 25 critical, 20 semi-critical, 24 safe and 2 saline. “After MJSA, the number of critical blocks is down to 10 from 25, safe block are up to 25 from 24.”

“The chief minister launched MJSA not as a government scheme but as a campaign in which people from all walks of life contributed because we all need to be involved in tackling water scarcity,” he added.
Alongside, the government has also strategized and implemented a plan to shower water resources in 2 years on areas like Prithviraj Nagar, Kho Nagoriyan, Jagatpura, Jamdoli, Govindpura and Newaru Road. It has increased the capacity of the Surajpur filter plant apart from arranging for the filtering and distribution of additional 20 crore litre will be filtered and distributed to areas.
