Recently, Vishwajit Rane, the former cabinet minister in the Goa government did some shuffle in his party priorities. Switching a political party is certainly not a new thing but Rana seems to have lost of agony against the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. He promptly mentioned that, Rahul Gandhi is a “non-serious” and unapproachable leader in this party and he fears that under his lead, the giant party will come to down to size 20 by 2019 general elections.
Vishwajit Rane who is son of former Goa Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane, highlighted in an interview that, “Congress has a non-serious leader called Rahul Gandhi. He is not serious about the people of the state who give you a mandate, not serious about government formation. He is not even accessible. Seriousness of a leader is very important for a party to grow”.
Rane was chosen from Valpoi assembly constituency during February 4 polls, but he made his resignation a priority and put out the blame that Congress that they didn’t consider to make a government even when it is the largest party with 17 MLAs.
Further on, he even left his interests as Congress MLA. At the time of Goa election, during the trust vote in the House, he did not consider it important enough to make a vote for his party. In this Manohar Parrikar and BJP together made government with 22 MLAs and the Congress received 16 legislators.
He has highlighted that, party is in “no direction” mode under Rahul Gandhi’s surveillance.
Rane added, “”I don’t see any such leader emerging in the Congress party. I don’t see any future for the Congress party in the next 10 years”. He said this, when was asked that if party has any member which can deal with Narendra Modi’s developing agenda.
On contrary, he said much better things about Sonia Gandhi, “Sonia Gandhi is different. She was much more approachable and hands-on”.
However, he has rejected any possibility of Pratap Singh Rane joining BJP.
