On his trip to Jaipur, Bollywood sensation Shahrukh Khan tasted lip-smacking Rajasthani food, and so should you! The Rajwada-Virasat Heritage hotel reveals the names of mouth-watering dishes on the King’s royal platter!
Every tourist in Rajasthan craves a bite from the perfect ‘Rajasthani Thali.’ And it seems that the King has not just tasted the heavenly pleasure, but also fell in love with it. This Friday, Shahrukh Khan was in Jaipur to promote his upcoming movie Jab Harry met Sejal when he visited the Rajwada Virasat Heritage restaurant to munch on traditional Rajasthani Thali. SRK instantly fell in love with royal tastes of Rajasthan.

Here’s what SRK had on his plate!
-
Daal-Baati-Choorma
Daal-Baati-Choorma is a staple to Rajasthan. For those who don’t know, Baati is a small plain/stuffed bread, deep-friend in ghee and served with spicy dal (lentils), alongside choorma (a dessert prepared from flour, served with a scoop of ghee).
-
Rajasthani Kadhi
Simple Kadhi is gram -flour cooked in yogurt, but Rajasthani Kadhi is more than that. It features the spiciness of red chillis and the tanginess of mangoes. Yum!
-
Gatte ka Saag
Ever heard of Gattas? They’re ‘steamed’ gram-flour nuggets cooked in rich, creamy gravy of saag (green leafy vegetables). Gatte ka Saag is indigenous to Rajasthan!
-
Kachori
Typical Kachori from Uttar Pradesh is a small, round bread stuffed with potato mixture, deep-fried in oil! However, the Rajasthani version carries the signature flavor of spices, lentils, onions or sweet mawa. You ought to taste it at least once in your life!
-
Ker Sangri
Ker is a Rajasthani berry found in the wilderness of the desert. The royal chefs throw in beans with the berries, sprinkle a lot of masalas (native spices) to make Ker Sangri- the perfect companion to Bajra Rotis.
-
Wadi
Wadi is no different from the south Indian ‘badas,’ albeit a lot tastier! If you taste Rajasthani moong wadis once, you’ll forget all about moong-daal Pakodas! It’s a delicious treat for cool monsoon days!
-
Laal Maans
Don’t mistake Laal Maans for red meat. Rajasthani Laal Maans is a delicious preparation of marinated meat cooked in red chilies, a classic throwback to the glorious days of the Rajput rulers. Simply Delicious!
-
Ghevar & Mohanthaal
What’s a 3-course meal without a delicious dessert to end it? Rajasthani Ghevar, a ‘monsoon special’ is ghee, cottage cheese, sugar, and flour blend together in a delicious treat! Likewise, Mohanthal is a gram-flour Barfi, stuffed with dry fruits! Yummilicious!
It doesn’t end here! The list goes on, with several traditional dishes like pulaos, biryanis, raitas and panchmel daal on the list. SRK has already the royal dishes. When will you?
